International Students who Speak English as their First Language
Graduates of a BC secondary school who have not achieved at least 80% in English 12 must enroll in ENGL 109 or demonstrate their standard of English by writing the CCC English Placement Test.
Secondary school graduates from another Province or Territory or from the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia or another English-speaking country who have not achieved at least 80% in English 12 (or equivalent) must satisfy Corpus Christi's English Language entrance requirements by either submitting satisfactory scores from a recognized test (e.g. SAT, IELTS, MELAB, CELT) or achieving a satisfactory score on the Corpus Christi English Language Test. Contact the College for details.
International Students for whom English is a Second Language
Students who did not receive 80% or higher in English 12 (or its equivalent) and international students from non-English speaking countries* MUST enrol in ENGL 109 (a non-transferable course) before they can enrol in ENGL 110 (transferable, university-level English).
Students who fall into these categories may challenge placement in ENGL 109 by writing the CCC English Placement Test. The EPT costs $50 to write and is graded on a Pass/ Fail basis. If you do not receive a Pass, you cannot enrol in ENGL 110 until ENGL 109 has been successfully completed.
*International students from English-speaking countries must still provide proof of having attained 80% or higher in their equivalent of English 12 before they will be permitted to enrol in ENGL 110.
